Inaugurated in 1939, the Atlantic Clipper rate was set at 30-Cents. The rate for all mail matter was the same, as seen by this wartime usage to Bohemia. This service would soon be suspended as WWII grew to directly involve the United States.
Many cards sent to Europe during this time are overpaid. This one beautifully incorporates the postal card as 1-Cent toward the total fee. The card was censored by both the British and the Germans, and I have to wonder about the particular placement of the OKW censor on the card.
