Here's a nice revaluation of a postal card thru the use of a pitney-bowes Desk-Model postage meter. These meters were a big deal at the time, supposedly because they were compact and easy to use - perfect for small businesses. The meter additionally allowed the addition of another slug to the left of the surcharge imprint usable for pictorial or slogan advertising, as seen used here.
The revaluation on this card is kind of late, but this business probably had many cards pre-printed prior to the rate change. The meter was a convenient mechanism for facilitating the added postage.
