Private Use of Precancelled Postal Card

Private Use of Precancelled Postal Card - Obverse Here is an extremely scarce example of a non-philatelic use of the precancelled liberty card by a private user and appropriately cancelled. Philadelphia was one of the first geographical areas where these experimental precancel cards were test marketed. This one probably originated from a post office in the vicinity.

The card was used to request a college admission application. Not only is this card properly cancelled, but it also exhibits nice received docketing two days later upon arrival at the university.

Here is the reverse side of the card.
