Here is an extremely scarce example of a non-philatelic use of the precancelled liberty card by a
private user and appropriately cancelled. Philadelphia was one of the first
geographical areas where these experimental precancel cards were test marketed. This one
probably originated from a post office in the vicinity.
The card was used to request a college admission application. Not only is this card
properly cancelled, but it also exhibits nice received docketing two days later
upon arrival at the university.
